 “Six years ago I had an open gallbladder removal surgery at one of the local hospitals in USA. In 2007 I noticed a bulge in the incision. “I was admitted to my local NHS Hospital for a bowel resection. I don’t know who did it as they were short of consultants and mine was off sick. I think the surgeon was just temporary. Anyway I am quite big, diabetic and my chest can be a problem too. They made a huge incision right down the middle of my abdomen. Afterwards the recovery was bad, the wound was infected. I was in hospital for 5 weeks and even then I had an infection when I went out, it took weeks to settle with a nurse coming in 3 days a week. Two months later a huge rupture developed that took over the whole of my stomach. I couldn’t bend over and my movement was severely restricted. The first consultant I saw said it was too big to fix.
