A Patient Trevion Fraser from Las Vegas to India for his Colon surgery

Trevion Fraser from Las Vegas shares his experience of Colon surgery BangaloreIndia

“For the last 33 years I’ve worked hard at my job in Las Vegas, USA. My wife has never known me to tire easily but suddenly, I started losing my appetite, my energy disappeared and my weight started dropping off. My wife knew something was wrong! She made a doctor’s appointment for me and the doctor ordered blood work and a CT scan. The CT scan showed cancer, a colonoscopy was done and it was confirmed there was cancer in the colon. I was devastated. Having no health insurance I could never afford it so I thought I would die. One day my wife and I were attending church services when a friend told us she was treatment in India by Indian Health Guru Consultants for her cancer treatment. She had cancer in her blood. My wife and I called Indian Health Guru Consultants and the staff there made the travel arrangements to fly us to India from Las Vegas. A doctor then evaluated me, he told us, “We have a good chance—a 90 percent chance or better—of killing the cancer.” Ninety percent! Not 23 percent. I was aware there were various treatment options available, when surgeon recommended have colon removed minimally invasively through a laparoscopic procedure. I felt very comfortable with my surgeon’s recommendation. I discussed my options with my family and decided to have the minimally invasive procedure. After I underwent the procedure, I was able to start walking around the hospital the next day. I was very impressed with the care I received at this hospital. The hospital is excellent with world-class facilities. The doctors and staff all spoke English and were very caring. They carried out their work professionally and satisfactorily. I would recommend anyone to go through Indian Health Guru Consultants as they organized my treatment in a prompt manner and ensured that the best specialists saw me. The services I received from Indian Health Guru Consultants and the hospital were fantastic and value for money.”

Traveling India for Colon surgery can give you access to top quality health care quickly and cheaply. India has one of the world’s most extensive health care systems supported by a long tradition of health and medicine dating back to Ayurveda. Indian doctors routinely post-graduate train at American and European university hospitals and they are the backbone of both the National Health Service in the United Kingdom and hospitals in the United States. Last year alone 150,000 patients visited India for medical treatment. The came from countries around the world: USA, Canada, UK, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, the Middle East, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, the Central Asian Republics. Colon surgery in India is safe, expert and supported by high quality equipment and well-trained nursing and ancillary staff. The hospitals in India are staffed with specialists who also act as consultants in the West. Many are world-recognized experts. These are very highly experienced surgeons and they reassure that surgery in India is safe, professional and expert. There is no doubt that the Indian medical industry’s main appeal is low-cost treatment. Most estimates claim treatment costs in India start at around a tenth of the price of comparable treatment in America or Britain. A large draw to medical tourism is the convenience in comparison to that of other countries. Some countries that operate from a public health-care system are so taxed that it can take a considerable amount of time, sometimes even years, to get needed medical care. The time spent waiting for a procedure, such as a hip replacement, can be a year or more in Britain and Canada; however, in India, a patient could feasibly have an operation the day after their arrival.

Cleon Hilliar, Arizona Patient on her Sigmoid colectomy and Repair of Colo-Vescical Fistula surgery in India.

“This is a very well run program. I would highly recommend that anyone curious about going overseas to have surgery, do yourselves a favor and check out Forerunners Healthcare Consultants I would never have been able to afford the procedures of Sigmoid colectomy and repair of Colo-Vescical Fistula that I had done if we had stayed in the United States for surgery. I am very pleased with the assistance Dr Dheeraj Bojwani has given me throughout. From first making contact with Indian Health Guru Consultants, all our questions were answered promptly and thoroughly by Dr Dheeraj Bojwani. When considering the big step of travelling abroad for treatment, it was most reassuring to have someone at hand who could either phone or email immediate replies to the many queries I had before making the decision to go ahead. Once I had made this decision, Dr Dheeraj Bojwani immediately arranged everything with the hospital, arranged visas for me and I was off within days. I appreciated him meeting mw at the hotel before I left USA – it was good to put a face to the person I had been corresponding with so frequently!”

A USA patient decided to get his gall bladder removed in India. He chose Indian Health Guru Consultants for laproscopic cholesystectomy (gall bladder removal).

Mark Nelson, Michigan Patient on his laproscopic cholesystectomy surgery in India-

“I am a resident of Michigan, USA decided to get my gall bladder removal surgery (laproscopic cholesystectomy) done in India. I had been suffering from gall bladder stones for the last three years .I had taken medicines for stone removal but they brought only temporary relief. My condition was worsening day by day. I was suffering from acute stomach ache and vomiting constantly. The pain hampered his every day life. My doctor advised me to undergo gall bladder removal surgery as a permanent solution to the problem. I learnt about Indian Health Guru Consultants by searching the web for better options for gall bladder surgery than were available in USA. I found that the wait for the surgery was too long and I could not even endure the thought of prolonging my misery through that long wait. The second factor was cost. Being uninsured I couldn’t afford the high cost of surgery in USA.  After learning about Indian Health Guru Consultants I e- mailed my medical reports to Dr. Dheeraj Bojwani. I am highly pleased with the prompt action that Dr. Dheeraj took in my case. I received very quick replies to my e mails. I got the answers as soon as I sent the mails. Thanks to Dr. Dheeraj, all formalities regarding my visa and travel arrangements and hotel stay were done at a lightening speed. I was in Mumbai just 15 days later and was driven straight to the hospital. Dr. Dheeraj was there to personally look after all the arrangements. The surgery was performed on the very next day and in three days’ time I was out of the hospital. I must especially thank Dr. Dheeraj for arranging the sightseeing trip in Mumbai and to the historical Ajanta caves. I could return back to Michigan and resume work very quickly. My surgery and the holiday in India cost just a fraction of what I would have spent on the surgery in USA

Ronald Lewis from California to India for Incisional Hernia Surgery Calcutta India

Ronald Lewis a Patient from California Shares his experience of Incisional Hernia Surgery in Calcutta India.

“Six years ago I had an open gallbladder removal surgery at one of the local hospitals in USA. In 2007 I noticed a bulge in the incision. I had an Incisional hernia caused by the incision where I had my surgery. When I consulted the surgeon in California, I was told to wait for one year for hernia repair surgery. This was too long a wait, so my wife started looking for options in India. She was suggested about the Indian Health Guru Consultants by one of her friends; as she had previously got her surgery in India through them. We went on to find out what they would suggest. After a preliminary email and a telephonic talk, we made up our minds to travel to India. The surgeon suggested having the hernia repaired laparoscopically; he felt it was better doing it that way. Within two weeks of out first contact we were in India. We arrived in Mumbai-India, checked through the immigration and immediately saw a man holding our name and the placard of Indian Health Guru Consultants. We were taken to a deluxe car that took us to the hospital about half hours drive from the airport. I had a laparoscopic repair of the Incisional hernia with an excellent result. Everything worked out well. I had a very good impression of the doctors and nurses at the Hospital. It went well, better than I would have expected. I spent three nights in the hospital, and there were no problems. I was able to walk the whole time. I have no problems now; I feel fine.”

” Carol Mitchell who came to India for the Hernia Surgery in Delhi. She is a resident of United Kingdom. She was treated by the team of Centre for Hernia Support. I am so thankful to have planned my hernia surgery with Dheeraj Bojwani and Indian Health Guru Consultants. Infact I was a bit hesitant initially to travel to India for this and I asked so many questions to Dheeraj. But he was always there for me, answering all my queries and helping me every time. He came to meet me at the Hospital and checked out all the services being provided to me. I was very overwhelmed from the long flight when I reached India, but gradually as things settled down I knew this was the righteous decision. The people I have been treated by, the nursing staff, the domestic staff, everybody without exception has been delightful and I am very conscious of their efforts to make my stay a happy one.   My outcome was wonderful and much better than my best expectation. In the past 30 years, the costs of health care have soared in developed countries, especially in the United States. Due to rapidly escalating health care costs, Americans, Europeans, Canadians and Australians in ever increasing numbers began to search for alternatives that could reduce their personal out of pocket medical expenses. In the last few years, millions of people from developed nations have chosen to become Medical Tourists.  Indian fees for medical and surgical care are very low compared to what is paid in the United States, Europe or Australia. In some cases, the savings from dental work alone can give people extra money for a luxury vacation. Medical Tourism can certainly be a win-win proposition. While taking care of health needs at deep discounts, shopping excursions, river tours, sight-seeing, nature excursions, intellectual pursuits, religious pilgrimages, cruises, ancient site tours, safari’s, hunting or fishing trips and visits to international beaches can all be arranged around a medical appointment schedule.  Medical Tourism is a simple concept: people combine medical treatments with vacations, and use the savings on their medical care to pay for the vacation.

England Patient’s Experience about Incisional Hernia Surgery Hyderabad India

Harold Martinn England patient describes about his Hernia Surgery and his stay in Hyderabad India.

“I was admitted to my local NHS Hospital for a bowel resection. I don’t know who did it as they were short of consultants and mine was off sick. I think the surgeon was just temporary. Anyway I am quite big, diabetic and my chest can be a problem too. They made a huge incision right down the middle of my abdomen. Afterwards the recovery was bad, the wound was infected. I was in hospital for 5 weeks and even then I had an infection when I went out, it took weeks to settle with a nurse coming in 3 days a week. Two months later a huge rupture developed that took over the whole of my stomach. I couldn’t bend over and my movement was severely restricted. The first consultant I saw said it was too big to fix. Then I started my research on the Internet where I came across Indian Health Guru Consultant’s website in India. I was operated using a new technique where the mesh is put under the muscle so that there is less chance of infection and ulceration of the skin over the mesh. The anaesthetist did an epidural so the pain was blocked and it helped me to get my chest clear afterwards. I was looked after on the high dependency unit with my own nurse all the time. It was such a contrast to the first operation. The hernia repair operation has been a great success and I know this is the best chance of no recurrence. I feel so well now that I have a new lease of life. I want to thank Dr Dheeraj Bojwani & Indian Health Guru Consultant’s staff for their skill and professionalism ”

India is fast emerging as one of the most sought after global health destinations. It has outgrown its mentors in their own feat. Medical tourism in India is no longer confined to people combining their Hernia Surgery with quick visits to the Taj Mahal .Low cost treatment is the main appeal that pulls medical tourists to India, but this is no longer the only attraction. India boasts of a very strong medical infrastructure that provides state-of-the-art international standard services to several patients who throng India for an attractive amalgamation of cost-effective and world-class treatment. The costs incurred in medical treatments here in India are almost one-tenth of what patients have to spend in most of the western countries.  Most of the medical tourists find the infrastructure and technology at par with that in USA, ENGLAND and Europe. The good facilities provided in India are certainly beneficial but also the skyrocketing medical costs and long waiting lists to get treated by the specialists in the western countries are helping Indian medical tourism industry.

The India hospitals and clinics that cater to the tourist market are among the best in the world, and many are staffed by physicians trained at major medical centers in the United States and Europe. India hospitals perform nearly 15,000 heart operations every year, and the death rate among patients during surgery is only 0.8 percent–less than half that of most major hospitals in the United States. In India hospitals are backed by sophisticated research infrastructures as well. India is among the world’s leading countries for biotechnology research, while both India and South Korea are pushing ahead with stem cell research at a level approached only in Britain. In many foreign clinics, too, the doctors are supported by more registered nurses per patient than in any Western facility, and some clinics provide single-patient rooms that resemble guestrooms in four-star hotels, with a nurse dedicated to each patient 24 hours a day. Add to this the fact that some clinics assign patients a personal assistant for the post-hospital recovery period and throw in a vacation incentive as well, and the deal gets even more attractive. Additionally, many Asian airlines offer frequent-flyer miles to ease the cost of returning for follow-up visits.
